I love a good face cleanse, morning and night but there’s something extra satisfying about washing your face at the end of the day and getting rid of all the makeup and grime. I have to admit that I didn’t always wash my face before bed (through most of my 20s) and some nights where I didn’t even take my makeup off. Gross I know but priorities eh….and it’s quite a daunting task to remove makeup and cleanse your face when it’s 3am and you’re drunk. And yes this included many week nights, that’s part of working in advertising but that’s another post. Then in my late 20s I graduated to face wipes because they were better than nothing and it wasn’t until my 30s that I became truly regimented about the pre bedtime face cleanse routine. Now I have a few face cleansers in the rotation at any given time (but still keep a pack of those wipes handy for the rare lazy evening, haha).
Here are my top four at the moment:
First Aid Beauty – this is just a really good gentle foaming cleanser that leaves your face feeling clean but not stripped of moisture. It doesn’t have any scent and is quite no frills but an all around solid little face wash. Great for sensitive skin or if you’ve been in the sun or around other irritants.
Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser – this is a bit of luxury in a bottle. It’s an exfoliating cleanser that is gentle enough to use daily. Leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed and it smells amazing! Good quality ingredients, I’d probably rotate this in at a much higher frequency if it didn’t leave such a dent in the wallet. My only complaint about this is the pump. The plastic nozzle tip which dispenses the product always pops out which is annoying.
Nude Perfect Cleanse Omega Cleansing Jelly – I like to use this one at night. You apply it to dry skin and massage in for a few minutes before adding water. It then turns into a milky coloured watery texture and rinses away easily. It dissolves makeup well and leaves skin feeling soft and moisturized. If you have oily skin or like that squeaky clean feeling, this product may not be for you. I normally pick this up at Sephora but it doesn’t look like they are carrying the line anymore.
Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil – like the Nude cleanser, you apply this to dry skin and massage in for a few minutes before adding water and then rinsing the milky water away. It also dissolves makeup well and makes for a great evening cleanse. Another one that isn’t very wallet friendly but it does seem to last a while and the ingredients are good. I’ll likely use this as a replacement to the Nude Perfect Cleanse once that runs out.
