Rouge Allure Ink

I’m in love with Chanel’s new matte liquid lip colours, Rouge Allure Ink! Normally I’m not a fan of matte liquid lipsticks as they can be very drying and the colour is super intense. Looks great in photos or on film but is very in your face in person. I prefer a more sheer and juicy looking lip colour or a your lips but slightly enhanced look.

The first thing that drew me in was the sleek packaging, Chanel has really perfected the art of simple and sleek packaging. The frosty glass finish is especially pretty on the Rouge Allure Ink. At first I thought it would be more of a stain given the name “ink” so I was a little surprised when I swatched a couple of colours on the back of my hand and realized they were matte liquids. But then I blended out and it turned into the most beautiful stain looking texture. Once applied to the lips and blended by fingertip it really does turn into a subtle natural but enhanced lip colour!

I purchased shade 142 Creatif which is swatched below both blended and direct from the applicator.

As you can see, my demo pose has slightly improved….not as much RBF in these and no lunatic smiling. I suppose I should try and find a better time to take these as opposed to at 11 o’clock at night but it’s rather challenging to find time during the day with a 3 month old. On a side note, I’m quite impressed with how well this foundation has held up throughout the day! It’s the Josie Maran Vibrancy foundation which I’m currently testing out and will report back on in the near future.

Let’s get back to Chanel though – the formula is not drying and very comfortable to wear. Although most of the colours in this line are various shades of red there is also a beautiful pink (the one I got) and a very pretty nude option. This would make a great day to evening 2 in 1 product as you can sheer it out for the day and layer on for the evening. A handy lipstick for travelling when space is limited!

You can find Rouge Allure Ink at Hudson’s Bay and Holt Renfrew.
