First Aid Beauty have recently released a new collection called Hello FAB. This collection includes 4 new innovative products. I was torn between trying out the Superfruit Colour Correcting Cushion and the Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer. After reading a few initial reviews, it seemed like the Coconut Skin Smoothie was the more favoured option and the one people were more interested in. So I’ve been testing that out for the last couple of weeks. Here are my initial impressions:
- Light weight and quickly absorbed into skin
- Fresh fruity smell
- Leaves a slight shimmery glow to the skin
I wasn’t sure what to make about this at first. Is it more primer? Is it more moisturizer? After checking the ingredients, it definitely seems to skew more moisturizer and the ingredients are pretty good so I really like that aspect of the product. After using it for a couple of weeks, I would definitely put this into a light weight moisturizer category. It kept my skin feeling comfortable throughout the day. Probably not heavy enough for dry skin but fine for normal or combination skin.
Could it be a primer as well? Not sure about that one. The Coconut Skin Smoothie left a slight shimmery glow to my skin but I definitely needed to put something on top as the shimmer was a little too shiny for my liking. But once I put my regular foundation on top, it did provide a subtle glow that came through the foundation but didn’t look oily. It didn’t hold the makeup any better per se so I’m not sure that I would call it a very effective primer. If I had to pick one, definitely more moisturizer.
Overall it’s a decent product and there’s nothing that I dislike about it but there isn’t really anything that is life changing about it either…and at my age, I need a bit more life changing out of my products. Hahaha! The Coconut Skin Smoothie is a bit of everything – light moisturizer, subtle glowing base for under makeup and with a fresh/fun scent. It’s everything my twenty-something self would love!! So I will leave you with the recommendation that this product would be well suited for more youthful skin. For now, my thirty-something self will need to keep looking for that miracle in a bottle.
