The Last Minute Gift Guide

If you’re like me then you probably haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet. Well actually that’s not true, I’ve bought a Mrs Potato Head toy but that’s about it. No need to panic though, this year my holiday gift guide is made for the last minute shopper! And seeing as we have no time to waste, let’s dive right in……

Last Minute Gifts for Her

If she’s into makeup and skincare products then now is the time to take advantage of the many limited edition beauty sets. Here are a few that I’ve been eyeing up plus a couple of newer release best sellers:

12_Facial_On_The_Fly_490

Fresh Facial on the Fly$41 NOW $30 at Sephora – perfect for moms, sisters, aunts, grandmothers and women of all skin types. Includes the Soy Cleanser, Rose Face Mask and Lotus Face Cream.

FAB Trilogy

First Aid Beauty FAB Trilogy Set $35 NOW $27 at Sephora – I picked up one of these for myself in the VIB Reward sale last month. The kit includes a small face cleanser (which I’ve raved about several times on the blog), a mini Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer and a full size Hello FAB Mango Butter Multi Stick in Champagne. A great gift for teens and women in their 20s and 30s.

UD Naked Heat

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette $66 – This palette has been a best seller all year since its release. It’s a warm toned palette best suited to medium to dark and olive skin tones. For any men that are reading and unsure if these colours will work, here’s a tip: if your lady tans easily then this will work, if your lady usually burns in the sun then these colours won’t work for her.

Fenty Gloss Bomb

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer $23 at Sephora – this is a colour that looks great on every skin tone, it truly is universal. Have to admit that I was skeptical at first but once I did some swatching in-store, I was very impressed with the product. It does have a rather sweet scent so might not be ideal for anyone who is sensitive to a lot of fragrance but otherwise a good gift for a wide range of women and it’s not over-the-top looking like a few of the other products in this line.

I usually try to keep the gift guide reasonably priced because most of us are on some type of budget and things can build up and get expensive at this time of year. However I have included one splurge item that would delight most beauty lovers…..

Charlotte Tilbury Naughty and Nice Magic Box $250 at Holt Renfrew or Nordstrom – this is being marketed as an advent calendar but there are only 12 items so it’s not a full advent calendar. Either way, it’s a beautiful collection of both full size and mini best sellers from Charlotte Tilbury. Is it worth it? Absolutely not, I think it’s insane to pay that much but if you have more money than clues about gift giving, this one’s for you. Or if you are looking to really impress someone special, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Last Minute Gifts for Him

Men can be difficult to buy for but two areas that generally work well across the board are skincare and tech items. Skincare because a lot of men don’t actually know what to buy for themselves and tech because it’s just a cool, fun thing to have. Here are a few items ideal for dads, brothers, uncles and grandpas.

clinique men

Clinique for Men, Great Skin for Him set $63 – this set includes a face scrub, aloe shave gel, face wash and moisturizer. My husband loved this when I got him the set last year and has been using several Clinique for Men products regularly ever since.

Fitbit

Fitbit Charge 2 $199.95 NOW $169.95 at Indigo – combining tech and fitness into one, this makes an ideal gift for dads, grandpas and anyone looking to maintain a healthy life balance.

pwrstion-xl-10k_sgry_front-right-3qtr_2000px

Mophie Powerstation XL Portable Phone Charger $69.99 at Best Buy – there are a lot of phone power banks available everywhere these days, you can even get them at the dollar store but I’ve never found one that works as well or as quickly as Mophie brand.

Herschel Travel

Herschel Chapter Travel Kit Toiletry Bag $34.99 on Herschel.ca – a great gift idea for the traveller or bearded hipster that needs somewhere to keep his beard oil. These come in a wide selection of patterns and colours. Throw a few razors and other essentials in as stocking stuffers and you have the perfect coordinating gift.

Gifts for Teens

Colourpop Semi Precious Shadow Palette $33 and Colourpop Feelin’ Fine Lip Gloss Trio $23 – the popular LA brand known for their affordable, decent quality cosmetics recently landed at Sephora. The beauty community has long suspected that Kylie’s lip kits are actually made at the same factory as Colourpop……they are both made in LA and have identical ingredients and formulas.

Stocking Stuffers and Secret Santa Gifts

Chocolates and black socks not doing it for you this year? You might be looking to add a little more excitement to your stocking stuffers which are what these ideas are about, they also happen to work for secret santa exchanges and bff’s on a budget.

Agave Kisses

Bite Beauty Agave Kisses Set $24 at Sephora – this kit includes the Agave Sugar Lip Scrub, Agave Lip Mask and Agave Balm. I rave about these on the blog all the time, they are fantastic and now available in a mini holiday set! Ideal for both glam girls and non-makeup wearers and my must-have for Canadian winters.

Fresh Cult Classics

Fresh Skincare Cult Classics $26 – the gift that works for everyone because literally everyone can do with a good face cleanser and lip balm.

HBC Mittens

HBC Mittens $20 NOW $15 at Hudson’s Bay – the iconic HBC stripes in the softest, warmest mittens. Great for everyone and they come in baby and toddler sizes too!

Foodies, Host Gifts and Teachers

white-marble-monogram-boards-z-1

Marble & Copper Monogram Board $59.95 at Williams-Sonoma – Surprisingly affordable and perfect for the foodie in your life. This monogrammed cheese board is pretty slick. It’s going on my Christmas wish list.

David’s Tea Winter Favourites Box$26 and Isoscetrees Lock Top Travel Mug $34 -great gifts for hosts, teachers, co-workers, meeting the parents and more.

I had a lot of positive feedback on last year’s holiday gift guides, I hope you find this year’s equally as helpful. It doesn’t need to be a stressful experience and if all else fails, there’s always Amazon gift cards.
